a speech on Roald Dahl that's all the information we got. the speech should abide all elements of speech ;intro etc. Can be 1 and half page long. Please help out Thank you

Answers

Answer:

good afternoon everyone,

this year for my speech I have chosen the greatest writer of all time Roald Dahl.

Roald Dahl was born in Llandaff, Whales on September 13 1916. His parents were Norwegian and he was the only son of a second marriage. His father, Harold and older sister Astri died when he was only three. Roald and his sisters always begged for their mother to tell them stories. Even at a very young age, Roald fell in love with story writing and story telling.

Roald was married twice. He first married a Broadway and Hollywood actress in 1953, Named Patricia Neal whom he had five children with- Olivia, Theo, Tessa, Ophelia, and Lucy. Olivia sadly died at the age of seven from Measles and Theo suffered from brain damage. All in all Roald loved all of his children. He then married a woman named Felicity Crosland in 1983. Although they lived On the same street, Roald and Felicity never met until 1972.

One of the reasons Roald wrote for children is because when he told stories to his own children, their faces glowed.

From the age of 7, Roald attended Llandaff Cathedral School. He was 9 when he attended St. Peter’s Boarding School. At St. Peter’s, Roald got into the habit of writing to his mother once a week. He continued to do so until her death 32 years later. When his own children went to boarding School, Roald wrote to them twice every week to brighten up their days.

At the age of 23 a war broke out and Roald signed up with the Royal Air Force. He was trained on the Birdplane Gladiator fighters, mainly in Iraq. He then flew to join his squadron in the Western Desert of Libya, but crashed en-route. In 1942 he was sent to Washington with the air force. It was there that he met Eleanor Roosevelt who was an important writer and would set him on the path to a new career.

Roald’s career as a children’s author did not begin until the 1960’s. Roald Dahl’s first book for children was not, as many believe James and the Giant Peach, but a picture book called the Gremlins. Walt Disney invited Roald- now 25 to Hollywood where they wanted the Gremlins to be made into a movie. In the end, the movie idea was cancelled, but Roald’s book got published. His first newspaper article was called A Piece of Cake, which he wrote for the Post. He went on writing a total of sixteen stories for the Post.

Roald Dahl is not only a writer for children, but also for adults. For the first fifteen years of his writing career, he concentrated on writing for adults. Roald was not a quick writer. It could take him six months just to finish his rough draft! Then of course there is the editing, the proof reading and the final draft. By the time the book was on the shelves, a year and a half had already passed. But as bad as that was, it could have taken Roald one month to write the first page! Roald refused to write at all- unless he had a funny, interesting plot.

Roald first became interested in writing children’s books and novels by making up bed time stories for his two daughters, Olivia and Tessa. This was how James and the Giant Peach came to be. Soon after the book became popular in both North America and the UK. His second book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory also became a favorite. The book became a hit everywhere. They even got a Chinese copy made and it sold over two million copies-just in China!

In 1990 Roald was diagnosed with a very rare disease which affected his sleeping, the colour of his skin, and his brain. Sadly, on November 23, 1990 at the age of 74 Roald Dahl died.

Although Roald Dahl is not here to day, he is my favorite author and his stories will live in people’s hearts forever. THANK YOU!!!!

Read the excerpt from The Call of the Wild.

They were simply so many bags of bones in which sparks of life fluttered faintly. When a halt was made, they dropped down in the traces like dead dogs, and the spark dimmed and paled and seemed to go out. And when the club or whip fell upon them, the spark fluttered feebly up, and they tottered to their feet and staggered on.

What role should government play in the lives of young people

Answers

Answer:

Governments provide the parameters for everyday behavior for citizens, protect them from outside interference, and often provide for their well-being and happiness. In the last few centuries, some economists and thinkers have advocated government control over some aspects of the economy.

Indeed, young people already play an active role in society: they are leading protests, are entrepreneurs, artists, thinkers and influencers.

What are two differences in how the time line and speech provide information about Malala?

Answers

Answer:

Usually, timelines are made from an objective point of view for a person, although the timeline can tell the readers the achievement of a certain person, the decision of what kind of person s/he is up to the watcher's judgment. However, speech about Malala Yousafzai is from a person who has a real life experience connection with that person. So, speeches directly show us what kind of person Malala was to them. and I think those are the differences.

"I heard you say in the store that Mrs. Janeway had gone home and that you had nobody to cook your New Year's dinner for you. So I thought I'd come and do it, but I meant to slip away before you came home."(7) Poor Prissy felt that she would never get to the end of her explanation. Would Uncle Richard be angry? Mrs. Janeway always burns pork when she roasts it. Sit down, Prissy. I'm hungry."(11) They sat down. Prissy felt quite giddy and breathless, and could hardly eat for excitement; but Uncle Richard had evidently brought home a good appetite from Navarre, and he did full justice to his New Year's dinner. He talked to Prissy too, quite kindly and politely, and when the meal was over he said slowly:(12) "I'm much obliged to you, Prissy, and I don't mind owning to you that I'm sorry for my share in the quarrel, and have wanted for a long time to be friends with your father again, but I was too ashamed and proud to make the first advance. You can tell him so for me, if you like. And if he's willing to let bygones be bygones, tell him I'd like him to come up here with you tonight when he gets home and spend the evening with me."(13) "Oh, he will come, I know!" cried Prissy joyfully. "He has felt so badly about not being friendly with you, Uncle Richard. I'm as glad as can be."(14) Prissy ran impulsively around the table and kissed Uncle Richard. He looked up at his tall, girlish niece with a smile of pleasure.(15) "You're a good girl, Prissy, and a kind-hearted one too, or you'd never have come up here to cook a dinner for a crabbed old uncle who deserved to eat cold dinners for his stubbornness. It made me cross today when folks wished me a happy New Year. It seemed like mockery when I hadn't a soul belonging to me to make it happy. But it has brought me happiness already, and I believe it will be a happy year all the way through."(16) "Indeed it will!" laughed Prissy. "I'm so happy now I could sing. I believe it was an inspiration my idea of coming up here to cook your dinner for you."(17) "You must promise to come and cook my New Year's dinner for me every New Year we live near enough together," said Uncle Richard.(18) And Prissy promised.Describe the storys resolution.
